Wonderful restful day today! Just had breakfast for dinner: pancakes with strawberries, bacon, hash browns. Yum! Now onto knitting a small something or other (yep, more secrets!) and catching up on Downton Abbey!

I had a fun morning at Wegmans knitting* and gabbing with Cindy. Always enjoy talking about knits, beer, books, food...and the list goes on with Cindy! She recommended a documentary about beer (Beer Wars) that I can't wait to check out via Netflix streaming.

::every day in February:: day 17: 'Friday 5...'

Whew! Where did the day go?...early dismissal for the kiddos and three day weekend ahead! I have to drive Miss Daisy (aka, Lydia) around a bit tomorrow but other than that it should be a relaxing family-filled weekend. Thought I would revisit Friday 5 for today's post...

Smelling...citrus...it's those Cuties again! I got a tart batch this time, and we seem to love them even more. It's a healthy addiction at this point... ;)

Tasting...Helios...ha, bet you thought I was going to say Cuties again. Fooled you! We are getting so spoiled with Victory as our local brewery. Cheers!

Touching...acrylic yarn & slippery metal knitting needles! I helped out with the 4th-6th grade knitting club today. Click clack! Fun times!

Seeing...the S U N! It got me out of my funk and made me feel alive again! Well, that and the Helios...I could also say that I am seeing the words in the novel Pure which I happily read this afternoon while my kiddos were otherwise occupied (no helicopter parenting here!). (If you look carefully at the photo below you can see my cat's reflection as she hovers nearby waiting to jump into my lap since she is cold!)

Hearing...my 7th grader practicing a piece of music on her viola this afternoon that I remember playing in a quartet when I was in HS! I rushed upstairs and had to play it too (okay, attempt to play it!)! Yes, it's been many moons, and she does it much better than her mama now, but it was fun! Such great memories practicing & playing all four movements of this with my quartet in a music festival!

My family developed a deep abiding affection for Cuties this winter. The last time I went to the grocery store they were out of them, and we were so sad without our Cuties. Today? I stocked up with 10 lbs.! They are so tiny and delicious that we will have no problem devouring them (there are six of us after all) & sharing them with friends. In December my dentist's office had a large bowl of them sitting out for patients and after I was told how tasty they were I had to try them. I might not have taken a second look at them in the store if it hadn't been for that! Now we are hooked! So much better than candy...I had two for dessert tonight! 

::every day in February:: day 12: 'oops...'

HA! Let's just pretend that this was posted yesterday...appears that I jinxed myself on that last post by completely forgetting to blog yesterday. Might have had something to do with the book I was reading all curled up in my bed yesterday afternoon and then the opera rehearsal I had to take daughter #2 to in the late afternoon/early evening. Sigh...I knew it was inevitable  that I would miss one though. 

::every day in February:: day 11: 'snowy...'

Snowing here this evening in cold windy Pennsylvania! Glad to be indoors with my family! We're not expecting more than a few inches here. What a contrast to the HUGE storm we had another February!

I made a second visit to a new India grocery store near my kiddos' school today. It was quite busy which made me happy for them. I was only going to get a couple items but came away with a flat bread/tortilla maker and many items not on my list. So excited about this new gadget even though I really didn't need it. The fact that it cost much less than amazon didn't hurt either. <smile> It made me happy that the woman who checked me out remembered me from my first visit...probably the fact that I am blond and not an Indian helped with that.
