I am always inspired by all the lovely sewing projects I see on my favorite crafty blogs. Tons of ideas have been squirreled away over the years and at long last I am boldly venturing into the world of sewing! You might recall my initial sewing project in 2007. My poor machine has been sorely neglected since then!
At long last my sewing machine had the dust blown off it a couple months ago when I started a beginner quilt class taught by my generous friend and fellow knitter: Kate! Since Kate doesn't have a blog any longer I will link to her latest sewing venture: Last Call Bags (bags made from beer grain sacks-brilliant!). I am so close to finishing my quilt (just have to hand sew the binding and take care of all those threads that need hiding. My favorite part of the whole process was the piecing of the quilt top. Anywho, here's a little mosaic of the quilting process:

I also made some tissue cozies for Christmas gifts. I followed the tutorial at Craft Sanity (thx, Jennifer! Love your podcast too!) and had such fun making these with thrifted fabric. I can see many many more of these in my future! My Timothy (first grade) loved his little cozy (made with vehicle fabric) and carried it around the entire first day! He keeps it in his school backpack now.
Knitting will always be my first crafting love, but I am finding sewing to be fun too!
