We had a lovely little holiday. The kiddos got gobs of toys and are loving life! One of my presents is that I get to take a knitting class of my choice-yippee! I have my eye on a sock class at Noble Knits. Sadly, Dh and I now have nasty rebound colds (more like a sinus infections probably since my teeth are aching!). We were starting to feel back to normal after the last batch of yuck went through the house and now this! Blech!
Last Friday and Saturday, I got to visit two LYS (Noble Knits & Garden of Yarn for all you locals) after Christmas for some much needed yarn therapy. I added some new yarn to my stash: Lamb's Pride worsted (RPM & sun yellow) & bulky (lotus), Gusto 10 (pink), Galway wool (pink and purple for more felted purses), & Fizz (floral). I also procured a new pair of tiny folding scissors, a cable needle (my first!), size 15 dpns (noticed that Leigh got some of these too!) and a small stitch holder.
2 FOs & some updates: I made a cute little rolled-brim hat with top knot with the Gusto & those 15 dpns for the girls (it's pink of course!). I also finished sewing in the ends of my Rowan cork WHO scarf. Photos to come. I've done 4 petals on the reverse-bloom washcloth. I like how it's turning out with the Mission Falls 1824 cotton. In all the holiday hoopla, I forgot to felt my small purse so I need to get that done still. Started making bean bags for the kiddos with my leftover yarn from various projects & some old acrylic yarn from my grandma. I got this idea from Melanie Falik's Kids Knitting: Projects for Kids of All Ages. This will be an ongoing project cause it's easy to sport these around when I'm running errands, sitting at the playground, etc. What else have I done...oh, I have totally changed my Bucket 'O Chic into a "Mariko Wannabe Bucket"!!! Did you see Mariko's candy bucket? She won Fluffa's contest and inspired me to rethink my bucket. I am now using Lamb's Pride Worsted (M13 Sun Yellow) & Crystal Palace Fizz (7117 floral). How fun! I can't wait to get started! This is my first time using both Fizz and Lamb's Pride too.
2004 Knitting Plans
- Make some Fuzzy Feet (My Lamb's Pride lotus is for these! Looking forward to making Theresa's famous pattern! Thought this would be a good first venture into the land of socks.)
- Learn how to knit socks on two circulars
- Do a pattern with cabling (the last Knitty had two that I liked: Coronet & Toddle)
- Attend the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival (My SIL lives very close to this so I thought I might be able to get her to go too. It would be fun to have a night away from the kiddos so maybe I could call this a mini-sabatical?)
